Non-Toxic Solutions for Controlling FLying Insects

Finding a solution to eliminate mosquitoes, flies, and other flying insects from your home and property is simple. Finding a solution that eliminates flying insect pests while also remaining safe can be more difficult. There are so many traps that feature harsh chemicals and zapping which can potentially cause harm to your family, so it’s essential to know just what to look for when browsing for insect traps.

DynaTrap offers a wide range of traps that are safe, silent, and simple. DynaTrap Insect Traps contain no poisons, no harsh chemicals, or pesticides, and do not use zapping as a method of elimination, making them the smart choice for homes with kids and pets.

Chemical vs Non-Toxic Solutions

There are many products on the market these days that feature pesticides and other harsh chemicals. When using these products, it’s important to understand the potential risks involved for you, your family, pets, and the environment. All chemicals have the potential to cause harm. The level of harm they can cause depends wholly on their toxicity levels and your exposure. As a rule, it is best to avoid any method of insect elimination that relies heavily on using chemicals or pesticides, especially if they could mistakenly be eaten or inhaled.

Luckily, there are pesticide, chemical, and propane-free products on the market that ensure your family is as protected as possible without causing harm. This is exactly what sets DynaTrap apart from the crowd. Each trap uses attractants found in nature to lure insects towards the trap to ensure no harmful residues or odors are released into the air and surrounding environment.

Until recently, using electricity to zap insects was the main method insect traps used to eliminate insects. However, these traps can easily harm any curious child or pet who comes into contact with them, as well as beneficial insects. To keep your family safe, DynaTrap traps use a fan to trap insects inside a kill chamber, where they are eliminated by dehydration within 48 hours. This method ensures no shocks can occur if someone touches the trap and does not pollute the environment with residues that are common in other traps.

Use Insects’ Natural Instincts Against Them

Have you ever noticed insects flying around lights at night? Do you ever wonder how mosquitoes seem to find you within seconds of you stepping outside? Flying insects all possess natural abilities to detect prey and other food sources. Lights attract many different insect species while mosquitoes use carbon dioxide (the air we exhale) to track us for a meal, but how do these attractants help us catch insects?

Carbon Dioxide

Each DynaTrap Outdoor Insect Trap is coated with a paint that contains titanium dioxide. While this may sound like a strong chemical, it is extremely common in nature. Titanium is the ninth most common element found in the earth’s crust and is a metal that is regularly found in animals and plants. When titanium interacts with oxygen, it forms oxides which can be found in sands, soils, ores, dust, and more.

The titanium dioxide coating is a crucial element for attracting insects. The carbon dioxide the coating emits mimics human breath, allowing it to effectively attract insects that are naturally attracted to this scent without resorting to using harsh chemicals. While mosquitoes and other flying insects find the scent irresistible, carbon dioxide is odorless to humans and does not cause harmful effects if the trap is used as directed.

Ultraviolet Light

Ultraviolet, or UV, lights are powerful insect attractants. It seems like the second a light comes on, insects swarm and constantly bounce off the source. This is actually a phenomenon called phototaxis, meaning some bugs instinctually move away or towards a light. There are many different types of light a bulb can give off, but not all of them attract insects. UV lights tend to emit a strong, white light, so bugs typically gravitate towards them as opposed to other sources, such as the light from a campfire.

DynaTrap Indoor and Outdoor Insect Traps feature UV lights to give you the best insect attracting power possible. By using the type of light that is most effective at attracting flying pest insects, such as moths or mayflies, each trap provides excellent protection by keeping these pests flying towards your traps and away from you.

Non-Toxic Insect Lures

Unfortunately, UV light does not attract all species of insects. While the carbon dioxide emitted from the trap attracts insects that are not attracted to light, DynaTrap takes the process a step further. Atrakta Lures add an extra layer of insect attracting power with their main ingredient, lactic acid. This compound is produced by your body during exercise and after eating certain foods. When you sweat, the lactic acid levels in your body begin to increase. If you’ve ever exercised outside and wondered why mosquitoes seem to adore biting you, lactic acid may be the answer.

As you exercise and sweat, your body temperature typically increases as well, making you even more appetizing to mosquitoes. Each Atrakta Lure found in certain models of DynaTrap Outdoor Insect Traps are fully loaded with lactic acid. As the UV light on the trap produces heat, the combination tricks mosquitoes into thinking they are flying towards their next meal. However, they will be flying towards their demise.

Trapping Insects Naturally

You shouldn’t be annoyed by a product that is only trying to help you and you should never feel like you could be harmed by that product. Traditional insect traps use an electric shock to zap bugs as they fly into them. While this can be effective, it also has the potential to be dangerous. Curious kids and pets could unknowingly come into contact with them and receive that same shock.

DynaTrap Insect Traps are far from traditional and old-fashioned. Say goodbye to those annoying zapping sounds and the potential for danger because DynaTrap uses something much more effective, not to mention quieter. The vacuum-like fan is quiet as a whisper, so it won’t interrupt you with loud buzzing noises each time an insect is trapped. Once an insect flies close to the trap, the fan sucks the insects and securely holds them inside, where they will be eliminated by dehydration within 48 hours.

Indoor traps do not have fans and never zap bugs; they have something just as effective that’s designed for indoor use. Indoor Insect Traps feature sticky glue cards that contain no poisons or harsh chemicals. These cards are hidden behind a decorative exterior to ensure they remain hidden while they trap flying insects. Once these pests come into contact with the glue cards, they are securely held until the time of disposal. The glue cards allow you to trap multiple insects per card to ensure efficiency and reduce waste.
