This insect trap is engineered for 4-way protection against mosquitoes and other flying insects. First, a UV fluorescent bulb generates a warm light, attracting insects. Then a second lure, an exclusive Ti02 titanium dioxide-coated surface, produces CO2 (the same gas we emit when we exhale) that’s irresistible to mosquitoes. A third lure, water that is gathered in the water tray, attracts egg-laying insects. Fourth, a powerful yet whisper-quiet vacuum fan sucks insects into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die. Light Bulb: 41050 Replacement Light Bulb Owner’s Manual: Download

Live in Minnesota (state ‘bird’ is the mosquito :-] ) and our property has a wet-lands and parkway system behind it. We walk dogs in our yard early mornings and late evenings – dumbest habit in the world in mosquito country! A colleague at work with a similar yard-type claimed their ‘mosquito vacuum’ worked wonders, so I thought we’d try a cheap model.

Bought this model (DynaTrap DT1200) about 3 weeks ago (from a local DIY store), read up on things like the effects of wind direction and placement (all vendors of such products have guidelines online – read them!). We’ve been collecting a solid cooking tablespoon of mosquitoes per week and a fluffy 1/4 cup of misc moths, gnats, and others. Plus walking dogs is no longer a constant slapping-race. It is pleasant.

It seems most of these products from all vendors have about 1/2 reviews saying it’s great and 1/2 that it sucks. Placement is probably important & they are NOT magic. I picked this model due to the low cost and not having to buy consumables. Lots of the ‘other’ products require up to $400 worth of propane and chemical scents per season, so I figured spending this low amount was a better risk than $500 plus add-ons. My risk paid off.

I read review after review and figured it was worth a shot. I didn’t want to buy a propane mosquito trap…that was all I knew. We bought this for our house off a lake in north Texas and were hopeful. Well, it has exceeded our expectations. We set it up at the corner of our house in the back yard about 20 feet from the edge of the patio and the first night we noticed a significant reduction in bugs. Every night has been pleasant to be out on the patio and not having to spray everyone down with bug repellent. It has been set up for 6 days now and I just went to empty to basket for the first time and it was completely full of mosquitos, gnats, June bugs and a couple of wasps. I was shocked! I was surprised it also came with 4 replacement bulbs. It makes no audible noise and it’s a pleasant dark blue light. No zapping or bright light as with traditional bug zappers. And it’s not an eyesore. The weighted stand has kept it upright through the winds during a couple of storms this week. A family member has already ordered one for their yard seeing there were no bugs here as we sat outside in the evening. As long as it doesn’t die out soon I will keep this at 5 stars.

I’ve been running my Dynatrap for about 3 months now in Houston TX. I purchased in May 2015 (not July). During this time Houston has received a HUGE amount of rain over June. I’ve been cautiously optimistic about this purchase but didn’t realize how effective its been until this weekend when I went to my parents house to grill. They live about 20 minutes away from me, also in Houston. As I stood outside to grill burgers, I was constantly swatting mosquitoes – easily had 4-5 I was aware of trying to land on me at any one time. I haven’t had this problem AT ALL since 2 weeks after letting the trap run in my backyard. I’ve cleaned it out about once a month and Ive been noticing a lot more flies and June bugs in the trap that mosquitoes, so I hadn’t been certain how effective it has been until going to my parents backyard.

It has given me enough confidence I am about to purchase a replacement bulb to keep on the 3-4 month schedule of changing out the bulbs. I’ve left the machine running every day for 3 months even in heavy downpours and thunderstorms and the fan is still running and each night I still see the strong purple light illuminating my patio – so far, I’m a believer.

The attached photo is after just one week of use. I live in Austin Texas and the mosquitos have been horrible with all of the rain we have had this year. The first week I had this in use I didn’t see much of a result and I attribute that to the fact that it was raining all week, but after seeing the results since it has warmed up and dried out I cannot recommend this product enough.

FIRST NAP ON FRONT PORCH IN 22 YEARS WITH NO MOSQUITO BITES!!! It totally works. My brother bought one first and after three weeks he had a noticeable difference. My sister and I both bought one and after just a week her husband was in the front yard with no bites. I waited until the 4th week and although I saw a couple, they flew right past me and to the Dynatrap and I wasn’t bitten at all! I’m one of those people who whelp up really big with every bite, then they bruise (unscratched!) and it takes two weeks for the bruises to go away. This has given us a new lease on our outdoor life at home! I’m finally able to enjoy the front porch furniture we’ve had for about 8 years.

The box was easy to unpack. All the pieces and parts were there. Instructions easy to follow on putting it together (nothing complicated). Plug it in, let it run 24/7 like it says, and watch the bugs collect in the dry trap at the bottom. Easy to detach and empty. Read all the directions for sure.

I purchased this model in the heart of the summer to help manage my mosquito population in my yard. What I found was that is collected a lot of moths, gnats and some mosquitos. I find that being in Houston one thing doesn’t work on it own, but using this device with spraying my yard with cedar oil regularly along with using a Thermocell device, seamed this summer to keep the bug population under control where I didn’t have to cover myself in deet to be outside with my pets. I tried the mosquito enticement pack and didn’t seam to attract any more with it or without it. The unit needs to be cleaned quite regularly due to bugs getting torn up by the fan but all in all it’s quite and has run pretty continually for 6 months now

Bought this unit to help get my waterfront back yard back. After spending $$$ to landscape with “pest” repelling plants, the Dynatrap was what I needed to put us over the top. Now we can enjoy our back yard again.
